Sometimes the place that wounded us is no longer a physical place.
It’s become the standards we still hold ourselves to, the roles we continue to perform, the relationships we keep recreating, and all the ways we learned to become smaller, quieter, harder, more useful, less needy.
We can leave an environment and still carry its blueprint within us.
When we begin to recognise the inner structures we’ve continued to uphold because they once helped us survive, we can soften even deeper into healing.
