White men are not facing discrimination in the U.S.

But this administration wants us to believe they are. Because Christian Nationalism and MAGA are cults of White Supremacy.

And Project 2025 warned us they were going to dismantle DEI protections for the people who need them the most.

This administration is targeting and punishing universities that have programs to support historically marginalized student populations. They’ve removed Title IX anti-discrimination and anti-harassment protections for transgender people under the guise of getting men out of women’s sports. And now they’re encouraging white men to file civil rights complaints. For what exactly?

I’m concerned about all of the violent propeganda coming from our government.

This is all part of the Christian Nationalist agenda. Fascists use fear tactics to control people and encourage compliance.

And these are the same people that talk about repealing the 19th Ammendment. We know that’s really because they don’t like the results when women show up to the polls.

If we want this rhetoric out of our government, we’ve got to show up to the polls this Novemember.

Women organized, protested, got arrested, and spent decades fighting for political power when the 19th Ammendment was enacted. And black women and other women of color had to fight for this right for three more decades after the 19th Amendment was law.

Which is why I get nervous when people talk about civil rights as if they’re permanent features of the landscape.

Rights are laws, institutions, and protections that people fought to establish—and that people can try to weaken.

So I take them seriously when they threaten my rights.

I think we should take them seriously when they say they want to repeal the 19th Ammendment.

We must keep speaking out when we hear backwards ideas about women’s rights being touted as “biblical” and “holy.” We all know what happened in the Handmaid’s Tale.

That’s why I created Like She Said. Because women’s voices are more important than ever in a time that threatens to take us back a century’s worth of progress.

I dress like a witch year-round because women have been called witches for centuries for being outspoken, independent, or unwilling to follow the rules.

I dress like a witch when it’s not Halloween because women are still targeted by the patriarchy. Not one person, except one woman, has been prosecuted since the release of the Epstein files, but at least 412 women have been prosecuted for pregnancy related charges since Roe V Wade fell.

I dress like a witch all year round because Christian Nationalist pastors are preaching about how women should lose the right to vote.

I dress like a witch all the time because the White House announced that White men need to be protected from discrimination while condemning DEI, rolling back federal protections for women and transgender people, and pushing Black women out of the workforce.

I dress like a witch when it’s not Halloween because our government just announced they intend to livestream a public ex*****on, something that hasn’t happened in the U.S. since 1936.

Some of us are done with the patriarchy’s expectations for us to be “good girls” and we’ve decided that our resting witch face isn’t a problem.

Nothing gets my gag reflex going more than this Christian Nationalist patriarchy marriage propaganda that’s going around.

Because it’s not even rooted in biblical teachings.

The passage most often used to tell women they must submit to their husbands is Ephesians 5. And the verse immediately before the instructions to husbands and wives says: “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.”

One another.

Then Paul tells wives to submit to their husbands, but he gives husbands an extraordinarily demanding command: love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

That is not a command to rule. It is a command to sacrifice.

And yet somehow Christian culture has spent an enormous amount of time teaching women how to submit while spending considerably less time teaching men that biblical marriage requires them to surrender power, serve their wives, and put their spouse’s flourishing ahead of their own authority.

Submission doesn’t mean obedience to everything your husband says. It doesn’t mean surrendering your voice.

It doesn’t mean accepting mistreatment. It doesn’t mean your husband gets the final word because he is a man. And it certainly doesn’t mean you are spiritually, intellectually, or morally lesser than him.

A woman does not become more biblical by becoming smaller.

If your theology requires one person to have less voice, less agency, less authority, and less freedom simply because she is a woman, it is worth asking whether you are actually reading the biblical text or inheriting an interpretation shaped by patriarchy.

That’s one of the reasons I founded Like She Said while I was on my deconstruction journey. Because I know the strength of women’s voices is so important in this moment.

People sometimes ask me why I make feminist clothing.

The short answer is that sometimes you want to say something without having to give a TED talk at the grocery store.

I used to think speaking up meant having the perfect argument.

But speaking up sometimes means just sparking thoughts for people.

A shirt can start a conversation.

A hat can make someone laugh.

A sweatshirt can make another woman stop and say, “Wait, me too.”

And I think that’s incredibly powerful. Because women have spent a lot of time being told to soften the message. Don’t be political. Don’t be angry. Don’t make people uncomfortable.
