Happy to see Jurassic Park putting on a rebloom show today! 🦖🌸 Sometimes the standards are golden with these specks and sometimes they lean more yellow. You can see the variation in my photos. It will depend on the temperature and the rebloom.
This one comes from the late Larry Lauer, a hybridizer who started out in Wilton, California, then spent his retirement years breeding irises on an acre in Independence, Oregon. Over his career he introduced around 161 tall bearded varieties, including his D***s Medal winner 'Stairway to Heaven' (2000) and, as recently as 2024, a Wister Medal win with 'Blinded by the Light,' which I'm excited to grow both in my garden.
Larry passed away in 2024, but his irises are still doing exactly what he bred them to do, blooming beautifully and, in this case, showing off with a lovely September rebloom. Every bloom like this one is a small tribute to his work.
