Happy Seminar Sunday! You may remember today’s plant from childhood. Many of us would take the flowers and play “ballerina” with them. Legend has it that you should never take them inside, as they are a favorite hiding spot for the fae folk. That’s right, today we’re talking about Fuschia. Originally discovered in Hispaniola (modern day Haiti and the Dominican Republic) in the 1600’s, it is considered a symbol of elegance and good taste. It does prefer partial shade and some babying in our climate, so you won’t see it everywhere here in California. We found this beautiful specimen in front of the Madonna Inn! If you haven’t been to the Madonna Inn you HAVE to go. Dripping with nostalgia and vintage charm, it’s one of our absolute favorite hotels on the Central Coast. Plus it has a darling cafe with delicious food and a famous cake slice that’s to die for! A must see if you’re coming to visit the Central Coast.
