September 17, 2026 Update:

It’s been a little bit since we have shared an update. We’re kind of in a holding pattern, but here is what we know right now.

1. Our flood insurance adjuster has been wonderful to work with. She has submitted phase 1 of our claim.

2. The structural engineer will be at the building on September 23rd. This is a HUGE step in the rebuilding process. Your prayers would be appreciated that we develop a clear plan with them on how to proceed.

3. We meet with town officials tomorrow to evaluate and assess the “level” of damage which impacts how we rebuild and what permits we will need.

4. We are still able to sell supplies! We are slowly building back up an inventory.

5. Please join us in thanking the Wayne County Chamber in awarding us a bridge grant. Even though we lost everything, there are still expenses in maintaining a business.

Thank you again to everyone who had reached out with messages, calls, texts or stopped by when we’ve been working at the building 💙💙

We are working to develop a way to keep you stocked with supplies….boxes, penny sleeves, top loaders, binders and pages. Let us know what you need and we’ll make it happen!

💙 The Giving Doesn’t Have to Stop Here 💙

While we don’t have a grand total of funds raised during Canal Came A-Roaring, Now We’re Restoring Benefit, because donations were made directly to the businesses participating in the event, we have heard nothing but wonderful things about the outcome.

Our community, and the surrounding communities, have been absolutely amazing. The generosity, support, and willingness to show up for our neighbors has been truly incredible. ❤️

If you would still like to help, please consider giving directly to a local business impacted by the August 12th flood. Many of these businesses are still working hard to recover, and many were unable to participate in the benefit.

Participating businesses (that are open) have donation boxes available where you can contribute, or you can mail a donation directly to the business of your choice. Every dollar and every act of support makes a difference.

And please don’t forget about the nonprofit organizations in our community that were also impacted, including:

💙 First Baptist Church
💙 Western Wayne Heritage
💙 Cambridge City Masonic Lodge

Our community has shown that when one of us is hurting, we all come together. Let’s keep that spirit going as our community continues to rebuild and restore.

Our most sincere thanks to the Wayne County Chamber for acknowledging us with a Bridge Grant as we continue to work on recovery from the flooding.

These grant funds will help us with utility payments, continued clean up efforts and the expenses associated with repairing and reconstructing our building!

🏗️ It’s hard to watch… but it means we’re moving forward. ❤️

Yesterday, the demolition begun.

After the flood caused so much damage to Sidelines Sports Cards & More, we learned that our building couldn’t simply be cleaned up and repaired. It has to come down so we can rebuild.

Watching these walls come down brings a lot of emotions. This building held more than sports cards and memorabilia. It held conversations, friendships, laughter, trades, kids discovering the hobby, familiar faces walking through the door, and countless memories with this community.

But here’s what the flood couldn’t take:

Sidelines.

Sidelines was never just the building. It’s the people. It’s the relationships. It’s the community that has shown up for us again and again over these past several days.

So while this video may look like something is ending, we choose to see it differently.

This is the beginning of the rebuild. 💪

Piece by piece, the damaged building is coming down. And when the time comes, piece by piece, something new will rise in its place.

We don’t know exactly what the journey ahead will look like, but we know this:

We’re coming back.
We’re rebuilding.
And Sidelines isn’t going anywhere. ❤️🏈⚾🏀

📸 **900+ PHOTOS… AND COUNTING.** 📸

Flood recovery is definitely a process, and right now, a huge part of that process is documenting **everything**.

We are now **over 900 pictures in** as we continue cataloging and documenting everything that was damaged by the flood at Sidelines. Every box, every item, every piece of the shop has to be gone through—and while it sometimes feels like an overwhelming task, **we ARE making progress!** 💪

We’ve even been able to start a little demo work here and there while we continue documenting the damage. There’s still a long road ahead of us, but each picture taken, each item cataloged, and each piece removed gets us one step closer to rebuilding.

And through all of this, we continue to be incredibly blessed by our community. ❤️

To everyone who has stopped by with **food, water, drinks, supplies, helping hands, encouraging words, or simply to check on us—THANK YOU.** Those acts of kindness mean more than you probably realize, especially during some very long and exhausting days.

We’re tired. We’re a little dirty. We have approximately 8 million more things to do. 😂 But we’re making progress, and we’re incredibly grateful that we don’t have to do it alone.

💙 Rebuilding Together. Being a Good Neighbor. 💙

After the flood damage our community has experienced, there’s a lot to figure out. Cleanup is only the beginning—then come the questions:

Who do I call? Who can do this work? Who can I trust? Where do I even start?

We want to help.

Our owner also owns construction companies, which means we’ve spent years building relationships with plumbers, electricians, framers, HVAC professionals, concrete crews, excavators, and other skilled tradespeople throughout the area.

If your home or business was damaged by the flooding and you need help finding the right person for the next step, send us a message. Even if it isn’t work we can do ourselves, there’s a good chance we know someone who can help—and we’ll do our best to connect you.

There’s no charge for a connection. No strings attached. This is simply about being a good neighbor and helping our community rebuild.

💙 Grateful for Our Customers & Community in Hard Times 💙

In the middle of the mess, exhaustion, and uncertainty that comes with flooding, you quickly learn just how much community matters.

From all of us at Sidelines Sports Cards & More, we want to take a moment to say how incredibly grateful we are for our card shop family (some of you may just think you’re a customer), the people of Cambridge City and for the leadership shown throughout this flood and the recovery efforts.

We’ve had the opportunity be to checked in on by neighbors, those who stopped by to lend a hand with cleanup, and see firsthand just how much this community cares for one another. In difficult moments like these, it isn’t about businesses, organizations, or individuals—it’s about people showing up for people.

Floodwaters leave behind a whole lot of mud, damage, exhaustion, and uncertainty. But they also have a way of revealing something pretty incredible:

Neighbors helping neighbors.
Businesses supporting one another.
Volunteers rolling up their sleeves.
A community taking care of its own.

To the leaders in the who have stepped up to communicate, coordinate, make difficult decisions, and guide our community through the recovery process—thank you. Your leadership and commitment have not gone unnoticed.

And to everyone who has hauled, cleaned, donated, checked on a neighbor, offered a helping hand, or simply asked, “What can I do?”—thank you for reminding us what makes Cambridge City such a special place.

There is still plenty of work and recovery ahead, but Sidelines Sports Cards & More is proud to be part of this community.

TEMPORARILY CLOSED DUE TO FLOOD DAMAGE

Unfortunately, due to the recent storms and flooding, our shop has sustained extensive water damage. At this time, we have no choice but to remain closed until further notice while we assess the damage, begin cleanup, and determine what it will take to safely reopen.

Right now, we simply do not know how long that will be.

We know this may cause inconvenience for our customers, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through what comes next. We are doing everything we can to clean up, make repairs, and get back to serving you as soon as possible.

This has been an overwhelming situation, but we are incredibly grateful for everyone who has reached out, offered help, checked on us, and kept us in your thoughts and prayers. ❤️

We will share updates here as soon as we have a better idea of a reopening timeline.
