🍁This made our season!🍁
The 2026 Kingdom Maple Festival held its first ever maple syrup contest and our Wild Woods Maple syrup won "Best in Class" in the Dark Robust category!! We couldn't be happier! Our syrup was evaluated for density, color, clarity and of course flavor.
This was the first year the Kingdom Maple Festival had a syrup contest. It is where I grew up and was very excited to enter the contest and attend the festival for the first time. It was much larger than we anticipated.
We started our day with a pancake breakfast that benefits the St. Johnsbury Meals on Wheels. I got very full, ran into old buddies, kindergarten teachers and college professors.
I also met
and fell in love with their woodworking. The maple leaf behind our ribbon is their wonderful creation.
I learn a lot about syrup production at these contests. Our Amber Rich entry was actually disqualified from the contest because I graded it incorrectly. Our light transmission syrup grader said it was Amber, my eyes said it was Dark. I should have listened to my eyes!
Thank you to everyone who volunteered, put in long hours organizing and attended the festival. And thanks to .johnsbury for promoting the event!
Which grade of maple syrup do you prefer?
