Dents happen and sometimes lead to cracks. This instrument needed to be patched for budgetary reasons, and here is what that process looks like. First the crook is removed to be cleaned and to have dents lifted. After that a donor piece of brass is used to make a patch that will fit nicely over the affected area. Once they match well, both surfaces are prepared for soldering, and bonded together. Final step is cleaning up the area, polishing the metal, and protecting it with a coating of spray lacquer.

Meet Nate Coffey!

Nate is one of our recent additions to the Mobile Music team and we are so lucky to have him! He offers lessons in piano and percussion for children and adults. Nate is a multi-instrumentalist, having studied at Berklee College of Music, and Hunter College in NYC. He has been performing for 35 years and teaching for 30. Nate has performed on many records and numerous concerts with a variety of artists.
This jazzy piece he is playing is an original he wrote called, "Strolling." Nate enhances his music and teaching with fun and excitement!!

Congratulations to Liam, the winner of our candy guessing game!! There was 1,783 smarties in the jar, and Liam won with the closest guess of 2,190!!

We are so happy that some young musicians got a chance to enjoy the Musical Petting Zoo before the storm came!! We will be back out there tomorrow from 10 till 5, hope to see more smiling faces and enjoy some more music!!
