Mushrooms have been used for healing for thousands of years across Chinese medicine, ancient Japan, 16th-century Russia, and Native American cultures. They are the only food that naturally produces vitamin D when exposed to sunlight. Rich in B vitamins, potassium, and antioxidants, mushrooms contain powerful compounds that support immune health and help defend against disease.

Every so often I hit a milestone as a forger….recently I had one of those moments! While on a two day adventure, I found 55 cordyceps!!!! It was sort of surreal and super exciting. I remember early on when i was first getting into mushroom foraging I could never find even a single one, and then finding my first I was over the moon….on this particular trail they seemed to be everywhere, I assume they hitch hiked on hikers boots. Cordyceps are pretty tiny and hard to spot, but once you start observing close enough they will pop out at ya. They grow this time of year, they love the moss and if you dig them up carefully, you can get the attached bug too……
I gave a few to a couple Christine e dormoy who just happened to be in the same town we were passing through the same day we finished our hike, a strange and wonderful connection, they will grow some off those wild ones in Florida, gave some to Nick Montecalvo He/him, who has grown cordys from some of my past finds and will again with these…..and lastly gave some to Josh Guy to hopefully go into his mushroom museum in the Midwest…..and so the mycelium network continues to grow!

Cordyceps are an amazing fungi, full of benefits such as providing energy, stamina, brain health, kidney support among other things…..

Ive been really excited to share this…Mushlove mushroom people
