The parade of continues. We get a lot of this model in. Not that they are bad, I think they just sold an awful lot of them.
This one was just dirty and in need of lubrication. No surprises. Fresh needle. It's on its way back.
The 12 inch version of this record had a huge life in the clubs well through the 1990s. Always a floor packer.
This reissue has on the back.

This came in needing a and a gummy motor that would barely spin. We also supplied a 45 adapter. This one spent a whole morning entertaining us earlier this week. Sorry to see it go.

For those who've been following along, this has been the year of the . They may start to look a little repetitive. We posted a similar machine just a couple days ago. This one came in completely missing the rubber platter mat. The dreaded 1967 and 1968 rubber formula that can turn hard, warp, crumble, or leach its plasticizer. Without a suitable replacement we are forced to modify a new mat. While we could use a flat mat, this will not allow for use of the 45 adapter.
Speaking of, this adapter had a couple of broken posts inside but we were able to remedy that and save the adapter.
Maybe pickings were slim in 1980, but this record won "Best Rock Performance by a Female" at the Grammys. Both Heart and Pat Benatar had strong showings for this year. Perhaps points were given for stepping outside a pure disco format.

Every once in a while one comes in that's just filthy. This was one of them.
It's a fairly standard VM model. It must've been in an environment with a lot of grease in the air, near a kitchen or an environment where there was a lot of oily particulate in the air. Required quite a bit of extensive cleaning and I'm not 100% sure there wasn't some poor service on it in the past. Sort of hard to tell under all the grime.
Typical trifecta for a VM machine. Idler, AC switch, cartridge.
A while back we featured the same song covered by the Manhattan Transfer. This is the original by the Ad Libs.

Out of order, but we haven't had one of these through in a while. This 1959 Collaro Conquest/Magnavox has a 45 adapter, but the contrast between the 1959 changer and the 1990s techno record was too much to pass up. Motor completely frozen, changer wheel pivot frozen, a little dirty underneath, and in need of general TLC. On/off/reject k**b also in need of some reinforcement on the tension spring, quite common with these. Very easy to over twist the k**b. It's the part most often broken or missing on these.

This RCA Studiomatic came in and gave me very little grief. When you find these first generation RCA pivoting cartridges still working, they sound phenomenal.
Standard service and new motor mounts/connector grommets.
The B side of the single is a really good live version that ends cold, seemingly with some studio work.
