Papa Doc's Beef Co.

Papa Doc's Beef Co. ABC Ranch is a family owned & family run farm. ABC Ranch was founded in the early 1960's by a young physician, Dr. A. Our beef is antibiotic & hormone free.

We proudly raise & sell all-natural, grass-fed, grain finished, USDA processed beef from Angus, Hereford, & Black Baldy Cattle. Byron Collins, who fell in love with a rural area nestled in the Canisteo Valley. Over the next 6 decades & with the help of his Eldest Son, Chip, Dr. Collins went on to develop registered prize Herefords. He later added Angus & Black Baldy Cattle to his herd. After the unexpected passing of Dr. Collins in 2019, his legacy was continued by his Wife, Rae Collins, & his son Kevin Collins. We believe our role raising beef cattle starts with Family. This Ranch is where all our beef cattle are born & raised. The personal care & attention our family pays to our herd is critical to our ultimate goal of producing exceptional beef. All our beef is all natural, grass fed and grain finished. Our animals are all humanely raised & USDA processed & packaged. Our beef is freshly frozen upon processing. We work very hard to keep our Ranch thriving & prosperous. To this day, we remain to be family owned & operated. In the best way we knew how, we created "Papa Doc's Beef Co." which is the retail side of ABC Ranch, LLC. This was our way to memorialize & pay tribute to our Father, Dr. A. Byron Collins, for the blood, sweat, & tears he shed to create this farm & to show our appreciation for the opportunity he left on our plate. Papa Doc's Beef is just what the Dr. ordered!

“Know what you’re buying. This picture has store beef(left), and farm beef(right). There is an obvious visible difference between the two but the differences don’t stop there!

1. You may notice the color difference in the picture. The store bought is pumped full of additives and preservatives, including propyl gallate, to protect against spoilage due to long term air exposure.

2. There isn’t a guarantee of where that beef came from, OR how many cows are in it.

Yes, it may have the USDA label on it but as long as that animal was packaged in the US, it can be called a Product of the USA.

And yes, the meat in the left package is not from one single cow, rather scraps from multiple cows, often times up to 1000 different animals! It may have come from Argentina, Canada, or Brazil.

3. The beef on the right is fresher, darker and is farm raised beef. It is filled with more nutrients & flavor. The ground is also from one cow and not just low quality scraps from multiple cows.

Papa Doc’s Beef Co is your great local solution! We have all major cuts of beef available at an affordable price. Our freezer is located at Cider Creek Hard Cider. Papa Doc’s Beef, “It’s just what the Dr. ordered!”

Here’s a great overview of the difference between store bought meat and farm raised/bought beef. Please support local farms, whomever they are. Your body will thank you, as will the local farmer.
