If you never knew about Jackie.. her life in the wild was endearing, educating and very entertaining. Those that followed her and Shadow were given a 24/7 look into the life of a creature of the wild. Cams were up 365 days a year and if you were lucky to catch them when they were in view, it was mesmerizing. One has to ask how millions of people could have become so attached to a bird that they never met or touched. But that was the thing about Jackie. She touched everyone’s heart. She showed how to be a mate, a mama and a force to be reckoned with if her babies or territory was threatened. I still have my moments when I still break down over her being gone. But there are so many people and so many videos and pictures, Jackie will always remain a part of our lives and she will always hold a special place in my heart.

Here’s my favorite Santa! He is from the Peppermint Candy line from Northcott Fabrics.
Santa has 3 different sayings on both the red and green background.
I’ll be making more of these hemis, and will be using the vast blender fabrics that were available. I purchased this about 3 years ago and they came to New Jersey via Alaska.

The design was cut with the pattern pinned to the cube
The fabrics were then tucked into the grooves and trimmed. There is no cording on any of the tucks.
In Kimekomi we cover the tucks with cording.
This version is called Kinusaiga, another Japanese Art form. It is usually done on 1” thick foam insulation board, much more firm and dense than polystyrene. Designs are usually placed on foam cut in sizes ranging from
4x4 to 8x8. I just had this cute idea in my head and this is how it materialized.
I love it when something that you think should look one way actually does come out the way you want it. I’m still debating whether to change out the some red and add some green. I have more of these larger cubes and I think I will be making some more Christmas ornaments.

Homemade chicken soup with orzo for the win tonight. Back down at the campground and it is cold and damp. Ginger is enjoying her chicken and carrots in with her kibble. I’m gonna be sitting down and having a bowl of soup with some Italian cheese sprinkled on the top. Just the way my grandmother used to make it. It’s definitely going to keep me warm tonight.
