Queen Bee Facts You Might Not Know 🐝

She may be the only queen in the hive, but none of it happens without the worker bees. Here are a few fun facts about the heart of the colony:

Only one queen bee leads each hive.
𖤜 She can lay up to 2,000 eggs a day during peak season.
𖤜 Her main job is keeping the colony thriving.
𖤜 She communicates with the hive through pheromones.
𖤜 Worker bees feed and care for her every day.
𖤜 A healthy queen helps keep the entire colony strong.

July is peak season in the hive. 🐝

Honey bee colonies are at their largest population of the year, and the queen bee is working at full capacity to keep the colony thriving. As the days begin to shorten after the summer solstice, she’ll gradually slow her egg production, marking the start of the hive’s transition into the next season.

We’ve welcomed so many new faces recently, so we thought it was the perfect time to reintroduce ourselves. 💛

We’re Doug and Andi, the family behind Cape May Honey Farm.

Our journey began with a shared dream and a leap of faith. Andi grew up around beekeeping in Bulgaria, and together we’ve built a family business rooted in tradition, hard work, and a passion for bringing raw, local honey to our community. Along the way, we’ve been blessed to raise two boys who have been part of this journey from the very beginning.

Every jar we produce comes from hives right here in Cape May County and reflects the care and quality we pour into what we do every day.
