Having graduated with a BS in Elementary Education (Summa cm laude), minor in Psychology and concentration in History...at the age of 50, I tend to live my life sideways and a bit backwards...but I am rather quite happy. I adore their laughter and innocence. I adore the sparkle in their eyes as they finally master a new concept. I adore the slow smile spreading across their face as they realize t
hey do like broccoli after all. I wrote Miss K.A.R.E.N.'S. Mystical Magical Emerald Green Garden Shed as a way to instill values I hold dear into the reader. As time goes by and I hear from adults who have read the book to their littles, or read it just because they wanted to, I know my goal has been reached. The writing of the Norman Gnome Knows (soon to be a series!) was born of my really strong like of gnomes. OK, I love gnomes. Norman was initially going to be Gordon. Then it changed to Glenn. My fascination of G names? Norman stuck the more I said it out loud to Louise and Olive and they heartedly agreed. You'll have to read the books to know who they are. The illustrations in Norman Gnome Knows were all done by me. I can paint pretty well, but I didn't know I could draw until I started to during the end of my Covid quarantine in December of 2020. They started out as pencil drawings on paper filled in with acrylic paint. That took way too long with all of the changes I wanted. Then I tried water colored pencils. Nope. Too many changes as well to keep starting over. Back to pencil drawings as I recalled my business Brother printer I rarely use. After scanning all of my sketches in then opening on my five year old turquoise laptop, I found a painting of sorts program I didn't know I had. Voila! My laptop is also a touch screen which allows me to 'paint' and 'color' right on the screen on top of my sketches to make them brighter and bolder. Peace and Love to everyone in my life and to those yet to be and to those that have chosen to think of me from a greater distance.
