Meet Dr. Carlissa Ford, who is stepping into the position of Assistant Principal at Paul Breaux Middle School. 🌟 A proud Lafayette native, Dr. Ford is already well-known in our LPSS Community for her extensive experience and dedication to education, particularly for students with exceptional needs. With degrees from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, including a recent Doctorate in Educational Leadership, she has made significant contributions in various roles, from teaching Biology to Special Education. Dr. Ford is excited to bring her vision to Paul Breaux Middle, including her vision for a new after-school center. Welcome, Dr. Ford!! 👏🎓📚

The inaugural Veterans Day Parade is quickly approaching! It will take place on Veterans Day, November 11, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. The parade route will cover the heart of Lafayette, passing down Jefferson Street, Johnston Street, and Garfield Street and ending at Parc International with a jamboree. All veterans in the Acadiana area are invited to register to ride in the parade and are welcome to attend to the jamboree at Parc International following the parade for food, fun, and veteran resources. Additional events will also be held at Cité des Arts after.

The Blue Cross and Blue Shield buyout by Elevance Health is expected to be resubmitted after feedback from policyholders resulted in the merger being pulled.

The Lafayette Parish School System processes their insurance claims through BCBSLA, and there are legitimate concerns that prices may rise significantly if the Elevance buyout succeeds.
