Across Astro, independent pet retailers generated $4.1 MILLION more in sales than an average Friday–Sunday weekend!

🐾 One of my favorite parts of Neighborhood Pet Store Day is getting to experience our retailers as a customer.

I was on the road during NPSD Weekend, visiting one of my favorite small towns, Fort Bragg, California, and knew I wanted to find a participating local pet shop. That led me to Highway 20 Feed—and I’m so glad it did!

I was thrilled to see how many NPSD Astro Offers they were participating in, but I was even more impressed by the store itself. They had a fantastic selection for dogs and cats, and I filled my bag with things I’d been looking for and a few new finds I was excited to try.

And this is where shopping indie really shines: the people. I needed help choosing a supplement for my cat, and one of the employees took the time to walk me through the options and explain the differences between the products so I could choose the right one. ❤️

Of course, I also loved seeing Astro in action! Highway 20 Feed uses our Kiosk tool to showcase their loyalty programs and Offers at checkout. I even left with two new Frequent Buyer cards that I’ll happily add to on my next visit.

The whole store felt built around its community. There’s a 24/7 dog wash—perfect for a town tucked between the coast and redwood forest—and even a vending machine with snacks for people and dogs, plus skunk shampoo for those particularly stinky emergencies. 😂🦨

And their community pet photo wall? I spotted Santa with a calf and a ball python. You have to love a good feed store. ❤️

I went looking for an NPSD retailer and found another indie store I can’t wait to visit again.

Neighborhood Pet Store Day may be over, but we’re still smiling about how our team celebrated. 💚🐾

Astro Sales Director Kim Purdy spent part of NPSD Weekend doing what she loves—visiting an independent pet store! Kim and her friend Tracey stopped by Dexter's Deli in Carlsbad, California, but this shopping trip had an especially meaningful purpose.

Together, they purchased approximately $250 worth of pet food, treats, and supplies to donate to Animal Friends of the Valleys. 💕

The donation was made in celebration of Tracey’s dog Kiya’s birthday and in memory of her beloved dog Kiara, who recently passed away from cancer.

And because this is exactly the kind of community NPSD celebrates, a member of the Dexter’s Deli team joined in and donated two additional bags to the cause. 🥹

One shopping trip supported an independent pet retailer, celebrated a much-loved dog, honored another who is deeply missed, and helped pets waiting for homes.

That’s the power of shopping local. ❤️

Astro Sales Director Kim Purdy made another stop along the coast to visit The Animal House Healthy Pet Supply Superstore in Damariscotta—and of course, she brought an Astro Gold Star along for the ride. ⭐

One of the best parts of traveling is getting the chance to visit the independent retailers that make up the Astro community. Every shop has its own personality, its own customers, and its own important place in the local pet community. 💛

⭐ Astro Gold Stars all around in Belfast, Maine! ⭐

Astro Sales Director Kim Purdy recently stopped by Aubuchon Ace Hardware in Belfast, ME—and she came prepared to recognize a crew that’s putting their Astro programs to work! 💛

From Frequent Buyer signage right at the shelf to Astro Offers displayed alongside participating products, we loved seeing Astro showing up where it matters most: in the store, helping connect shoppers with rewards and savings.
