There’s something really special about watching a guitar go from an idea in someone’s head to a finished instrument sitting on the bench. This La Playa is no exception.
Joe came by the shop for a tour and had the opportunity to really be part of the build process. He went through the wood with us out in the shop and personally chose the black limba for the body, the 5A quilt maple top and the thermal 5A flame maple that would become the neck.
From there, we started putting the rest of the picture together with his specs.
Joe wanted this beautiful Trans Amethyst Burst over that quilt and it came out incredible, especially against the natural black limba and scraped binding.
Incredible Ebony board, our mother of pearl Crown inlays, our H1 humbuckers and black hardware finished it off.
This is probably my favorite part of building custom guitars. Someone comes to us with a picture in their mind of what their perfect guitar could be, and we get to figure out how to bring that picture to life.
There’s a lot of trust involved in that process, and I don’t ever take that lightly.
Joe, thanks for making the trip, spending some time with us and trusting us to build your La Playa.
This one is yours in every sense of the word.
