Big thanks to the City of Carmel, as well as Mayor Finkam, for throwing last week’s College Avenue Block Party! 🥳 It was a delight, and we were honored to host this celebration of the reopening of College Avenue for our Home Place community. Thank you also to the lovely vendors and city service representatives who set up booths and provided food, drinks, and neighborhood fun, and shout out to the Naptown Hepcats for the wonderful evening entertainment!

Did you know that today is National Pawpaw Day? Pawpaw (𝘈𝘴𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘢 𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘰𝘣𝘢) is an Indiana native understory tree with edible fruit and showy purplish-brown flowers that emerge in early spring. Due to their fruity nature, pawpaws have many regional nicknames, like Indiana banana, custard apple, and hillbilly mango—but if you choose to eat the fruit, please do so wisely and with further research into proper preparation!

Pawpaw is also a pollinator favorite and attracts butterflies, small mammals, and songbirds. Furthermore, Zebra swallowtail butterflies are dependent on pawpaw, as their caterpillars feed exclusively on the leaves of 𝘈𝘴𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘢 species.
