Want more blooms from your Veronica? Don’t be afraid to give it a little trim! ✂️🌿
Sara shows us how to follow the finished flower spike down and cut just above the next healthy leaves or side buds. This keeps the plant from putting energy into seeds and can encourage another round of flowers.
In Zone 5b, you can continue deadheading while the plant is actively blooming. Once flowering slows or frost arrives, let it rest until spring.
A simple cut can help keep the color coming! 💜
One important difference: deadheading individual flowers is not the same as cutting the entire plant back. If you choose to do a full fall cleanup, wait until the plant is dormant after several hard frosts—or simply leave it standing for winter and clean it up in spring.
