Lookit what Reece made!

It’s dubbed the “Modcaster”, and it’s basically a fancy Esquire with a Seymour Duncan ‘59 and a threeway switch that emulates the tones of a traditional double pickup configuration. Check out Reece’s rundown and then come check out the Modcaster in the shop! It’s a one-of-a-kind build that won’t be built again unless you ask him nicely to build you one!

The 1st ever 919 Pedal Party is almost upon us! We’re teaming up with Alexander Pedals to host a real who’s who of the local and not-so-local pedal scene!

Spence has been getting real nerdy about some of the builders that are gonna be in attendance, including several independent builders that we don’t *yet* carry at the shop…

Come check it out!! 10/3 at Steel String Brewery !!

ICYMI, we’re Silvertone dealers now!!

Among the first batch of guitars we got in the shop, there was this rather striking 1373 baritone in pelham blue. It’s got a mahogany body and neck, Indian laurel fingerboard with 28” scale length, and a pair of Silvertone custom spec lipstick pickups. Modern appointments aside, it’s got the vintage 57 ‘peanut’ body shape, and the classic Coke bottle headstock.

Naturally, it caught Spencer’s eye; he decided to run it through this vintage 1980 Sunn Beta Lead with a Silvertone Twin Trem pedal. Results are as epic as you’d expect.

You guys seemed to really enjoy the video on Mac’s Gibson Marauder repair, so here’s a follow up!

Reece refretted, rebridged, and cut a new bone nut for this beauty, and it’s ready to both rock *and* roll for many, many years to come. He also adjusted the custom strap locks at no extra charge, because we care about vintage tone.

Mr. Mac from Superchunk stopped by the other day to have his belov’d vintage Gibson Marauder brought back to life! Here’s Reece’s run down of the work ahead and a bit about this rather rare beauty. Neat!

Special delivery!

The MXR Flanger/Doubler just arrived and we’re giving you Brian’s unadulterated first impression. Sure, it can fl**ge and double. But it can ALSO chorus and make you nauseous if you know what you’re doing. CV ins and outs to keep the synth nerds happy, and it also allows the normie guitar players to express themselves to the max. Ultimately, everyone wins.

Brian’s shredding Van Halen riffs on a Reverend Kingbolt Air HH through the new-to-us Carr Impala, as these two brands seem to be the new PB&J.

The post man just dropped off Rainger’s latest creation, and we managed to capture Spencer’s first impressions!

It seems as if the Rainger Break Box crawled out of its slanted pink shell and a scorching distortion/momentary delay reclaimed its home hermit crab style. The Recycle Box is an insanely fun, dynamic combination of effects– a TB flavored analog distortion and a digital delay with momentary control. You can use the big/little rubber pad to kick the delay on or off for bursts of huge ambient washes or short staccato slaps. Like all things Rainger, it’s incredibly addictive.

We’re already big fans of the Yamaha Revstar lineup, but this Chris Buck signature has taken things up a notch!

Everything about it feels rock solid– two custom Alnico III P90 pickups, rosewood fingerboard, jumbo stainless steel frets, maple top and chambered mahogany body… it’s insane that this guitar checks in under $1500.

Spencer’s playing through the much beloved Milkman The Amp 100, (running at 200W!) through a Dusky Deuterium 2x12, with a little help from the Pop Top boost.

If you’re anything like us, seeing a “new tube screamer” hit the market pretty immediately triggers a reflexive eyeroll… That is UNLESS you add something to it that the world didn’t have before, and it happens to be made by masters of all things overdrive, Greer Amps.

The Mori Drive is exactly that– inspired by vintage TS circuitry with a tweaked frequency response and wider clipping range (a la Klon style drives), the Mori sits snugly between Greer’s lineup as an infinitely stackable drive that will make any rig richer and more textured.

Spencer is running a Dunable USA Custom Yeti through the Carr Skylark Special in its most “Fendery” tone stack position.
