Today I started up another furniture project. What started as me simply wanting to clean up and repair this beautiful 1960s Stanley Finnline 9 drawer dresser , ended up with the decision to restore it. First off, the front two legs were in bad shape and had multiple screws holding it poorly in place, which damaged the woodwork and made the dresser not be able to stand up on its own.

Extra screws and nails do not make for a good furniture repair!

So, I haven’t exactly determined my plan, but first thing’s first…. I have to fix these legs.

Clamps, glue, patience and wood epoxy hopefully do the trick

And to make this project sweeter, I have the matching high boy in my shop!

Had a neighbor in town talk to me yesterday about this little mid 1980s Pioneer receiver that was hard to enjoy due to the scratchiness on the volume and eq controls and had speaker cutout. So I brought it home, treated all the contact points, cleaned her up and now it works perfectly!

Another beautiful piece is ready for its next chapter.

This vintage Mid-Century Modern oak end table has all the character that makes 1970s furniture so timeless. Featuring a sculptural bentwood base, stunning parquet inlay top, smoked glass insert, and lower display shelf, it’s a piece that’s just as much art as it is furniture.

Before calling it finished, I gave it the attention it deserved. I reglued a few loose joints, filled some old holes from its past, gave it a thorough scrub to remove decades of grime, and finished it off with a hand application of Gilboy’s Antique Gold Beeswax Polish. That final coat really brought the oak back to life, leaving it with a rich, warm glow while helping protect the wood for years to come.

Furniture like this was built to last, and it’s always rewarding to preserve another piece rather than see it discarded. Now it’s cleaned, refreshed, solid, and ready to find a new home where it can be appreciated for another generation.

What do you think—would this fit better beside a sofa, next to your favorite reading chair, or as a statement piece all on its own?

A Chair Full of Memories… Ready for a New Chapter

Some furniture is just furniture. This isn’t one of those pieces.

This beautiful antique high chair has been part of a local family’s story for multiple generations. You can almost imagine the countless meals, messy faces, holiday gatherings, and proud grandparents that have surrounded it over the years.

Like any well-loved family heirloom, it has a history. At some point it was painted, later carefully stripped and refinished, allowing the beautiful wood and hand-carved details to shine once again. When it came into my hands, I kept things simple—gave it a thorough cleaning, blended a few worn spots in the finish, and finished it with a generous coat of quality furniture wax to bring back its warm glow while preserving the character it earned through decades of use.

Whether you’re looking for a statement piece, a photography prop, nursery décor, or simply appreciate antique furniture with a story to tell, this chair deserves another family to cherish it.

The best part? Every dollar from the sale of this chair will be donated to the Grist Mill Fine Arts Theater in Macedonia, IA , helping preserve another piece of our local community’s history for future generations.

If you’d like to give this wonderful old chair its next home while supporting a great cause, send me a message. Some stories are too good to end—they just need a new family to continue them.

For Sale :

Antique Yawman & Erbe 10-Drawer Oak Filing Cabinet – Refreshed & Ready to Use

If you’ve been looking for a statement piece that blends history, craftsmanship, and functionality, this is it.

This is an original Yawman & Erbe Manufacturing Co. 10-drawer oak filing cabinet, made in Rochester, New York. These cabinets were built for banks, law offices, libraries, and businesses during the early 1900s and are known for their exceptional quarter-sawn oak construction, solid brass hardware, and incredibly smooth drawer operation.

This cabinet has been carefully gone through and refreshed—not refinished—so it retains all of its original character and patina.

What I’ve done:
• Thoroughly cleaned inside and out
• Hand waxed the entire cabinet to nourish and protect the original finish
• Cleaned and waxed all drawer rollers/glides so every drawer operates smoothly
• Replaced missing nameplate pins where needed
• Cleaned all brass hardware

The result is a cabinet that’s clean, functional, and ready for another century of use. It comes with it’s flaws, but is ready for it’s new home

Dimensions:
• 14.5” Wide
• 29” Deep
• 52.5” Tall

Whether you’re looking for a filing cabinet, apothecary-style storage, craft organizer, workshop cabinet, or simply an incredible antique conversation piece, this one checks all the boxes.

Pickup: Carson, Iowa

Payment: Cash or Venmo accepted. I will gladly hold it with a Venmo payment.
