This Affects YOU and Every Animal Sign in 2013 If you look at the Flying Star Chart for 2013 you’ll see that the numbers or “flying stars” have returned to their original abodes with the “5” Star in the middle...just as in the original Lo Shu Square. What this means is that all animal signs are strongly influenced by their original essence...or the number in your home animal location. It also means that all stars vibrate more powerfully this year and the negative stars take on more power too! This magic formation occurs only once every nine years. The “Five Yellow” is regarded as the misfortune star and it occupies the center location so it affects everyone in the household. Many feng shui masters regard the “wu wang” or 5 yellow with fear due to the damage and danger it can bring, including havoc in the home or work place with illness, accidents, reversals of fortune and even total financial loss. This is a dangerous, doubly powerful star this year! Lo Shu Chart for 2013 Here’s What You Must Do: First remember not to energize this 5 star, which is an earth number. Use defensive strategy so that you can disarm its power with elemental and symbolic cures. The Five Element Pagoda, 7-Level Pagoda or the Kalachakra Stupa Suppress the energy of the 5-star with the presence of a 5-element pagoda, 7-level pagoda, or special Kalachakra Stupa that contains powerful sacred symbols and incantations. The 7-level pagoda is made of chrome gold metal and decorated with the Dragon naga at its base. The Kalachakra Stupa is an even more powerful cure. It is more colourful, reflecting the five elements - it is associated with the powerful legendary King of Shambala who is linked with the Kalachakra tradition that governs the Wheel of Time. When you display this in the home it ensures protection against evil forces and also attracts wealth luck. Good things can literally fall from the sky! All of these cures are exceptionally excellent for counteracting the earth energy of the five star so use one that is suitable for you and place in the center of your living room or dining room. A Pair of Walking Camels This helps those in business in need of a remedy to counter being hit by cash flow problems. Single hu**ed camels have traditionally been used for stabilizing finances and safeguarding wealth. Double hu**ed camels have always been used to symbolize overcoming financial difficulties and cash flow problems. Camels have also been used to counter the absence of the Lap Chun, which we are missing in 2013 since Chinese New Year comes after February 4, 2013. A Special Reminder to All Animal Signs Remember that the stars are strongest when they visit your entrance, your bedroom or living room, your animal palace (for example the Rabbit’s palace (or home location) is EAST while the Rat’s is in the NORTH and your Trigram palace (Matriarch is SW, Father is NW etc.) Be sure to check this on a monthly basis as well as an annual basis. The monthly feng shui chart is published in this ezine, online, and in our Feng Shui World Magazine. Determine the month that the 5 travels to any of the above locations! If you do not display the correct cures you are prone to becoming a victim of politics, quarrels may arise, sudden problems can manifest and if you are in business there may be cash flow problems since this year does not have a Lap Chun. Lack of the Lap Chun with the FIVE Star in the center can cause finances to be tight. Just One Last Thing... Please check your own personal animal sign fortune and feng shui book for 2013 because there are some exceptions. In 2013 some men and women actually benefit from the 5 star but not too many of you. If you are one of the lucky ones, then you should enjoy continued improvement from your previous year of good fortune (if you had luck in 2013 Dragon year it will continue in 2013) but if your luck was bad in 2012 then the 5 in the center this year will help suppress all bad luck. Therefore if you are in this group you do NOT have to suppress the Earth Star 5 in the center. Check carefully in your horoscope book so you get this right! Remember the easiest way to understand the fundamental energy patterns of the year is to use the 2013 Feng Shui or Flying Star grid chart as shown above. Check the numbers in each of the compass sectors as they relate and congregate within your own home and office. Just superimpose the chart onto your floor plan to get a clear idea of the good and bad luck sectors in your home for 2013. Then take action to suppress or enhance the stars. The 5 star is in the center...and now you now what to do to take care of it! To your success and safety in 2013!

Each of the Eight Immortals also represents the following: the two genders - male and female, the old and the young, the rich and the poor and the noble and humble. So accordingly, everyone from all levels of society can relate to and benefit from these celestial beings. With the number 8 being so auspicious for everyone...there is no better time than now to place an image of these eight celestial beings in your home...thereby inviting the powerful energies of the Period of 8.

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall... MirrorEntryDoor Many people have questions about the use of mirrors in feng shui. Allow me to share a few pointers with you...because it's important that when using mirrors to try to solve one feng shui problem you don't inadvertently create an even bigger one! Mirrors & Missing Corners Mirrors can be used to visually create space where it doesn't exist...to extend walls like when your home or apartment is irregular in shape and you have a particular corner "missing"...especially if that room or corner is very important to the luck of a family member. Here are some things to remember:

This mirror solution for missing corners is viable but not if you have to put the mirror in the kitchen or in a bedroom.

Mirrors in living or dining area or passage ways are acceptable.

Make sure that any mirror you install does not reflect a toilet, staircase, unpleasant view or the stove in the kitchen. MirrorAbundance Mirrors for Expansion Mirrors can be used to expand an auspicious area or "double" abundance such as your dining table when family and friends are enjoying a happy meal together...or in a restaurant or shop if placed close to the cash register or on a wall "doubling" the number of customers in the restaurant or shop. Here are some things to keep in mind:

Full wall mirrors should be large and high enough so that a person's image is complete - the head and feet are not "cut off" in the mirror - so best to start the mirror at ground level.

Use full wall mirrors rather than mirror tiles which tend to distort.

Mirrors are great for small entryways to expand a cramped or narrow space...however make sure they are not directly facing the main door...forcing good sheng chi energy that has just entered to flow back out.

Mirrors should never be used in the bedroom - even if you are trying to correct a missing corner and it should never reflect the bed. This creates problems for the couple and causes sleepless nights for sure!

Note that TV's and computer screens are reflective and act like mirrors so if you have a TV in the bedroom make sure it doesn't directly face your bed. Cover them at night. Follow these guidelines and you'll find that wall mirrors can be excellent feng shui features and great energy enhancers when positioned correctly in your home or work environment. However, if used incorrectly they can create havoc! Good luck!

eng shui is all about energy...both the tangible energy created by physical structures and objects (that affect it’s flow and accumulation)...and also the more subtle “intangible energy” caused by other influences such as the inner spirit of the home, secrets from past history, left-over energy from previous residents or possibly the inherent earth energy on which the home was built. Sometimes homes are afflicted with the energy brought by spiritual entities transcended from other realms.

Tuning in to the pattern and flow of chi inside and outside your living space is not difficult...but does require a focusing of your attention. Stand at the entrance of your home for a few minutes. Face out and feel the energy that is coming at you...coming toward the main entrance where you are standing. Try to get a feel for whether it is benevolent or agitated...does it feel fast moving and strong or slow?

You will find that if your entrance is being hit by some hostile structure or poison arrow, the energy will not be smooth...but if your house faces a bright hall...an open field or lake then the energy feels much more restful. As you progress with this practice you will start to feel the differentiations of good and bad energy...and you’ll be more creative in how you design good feng shui for your home.

For example let’s consider your main door or entryway. Here the focus is on protection feng shui (protection from all kinds of bad chi) so you may want to place protector images such as a pair of Fu Dogs or Chi Lins or Lions here. When symbols of protection are positioned correctly they emanate powerful energy...and with practice you can develop the concentration necessary to feel their relative strengths!

When I walk into anyone’s home I can usually sense if the home is happy or sad...and homes with strong yang energy usually belong to very successful people of strong character. Similarly, homes that exude a defeated or tired energy usually belong to tired or exhausted people. In fact, the more intense the energy is, the easier it is to become aware of it.

Yes, the energy of a home usually mirrors the energy of its residents. Sometimes the energy of spaces is stronger than the combined energy of its residents and other times the personality of the homeowner dominates...it’s just different with different people. The same applies to your office or work environment. Almost always, your home or office will reflect the attitudes, directions, moods and well-being of the residents.

Everyone has the ability to feel the energy of spaces. Some have a more heightened awareness of energy than others...but everyone has the potential to sense the quality of the energy around them. It may take some time for you to develop this skill but with time you’ll be amazed at the sensitivity you possess.

In feng shui it is only by tuning into the energy that we can improve it, so I urge you to begin today to become more aware and use this skill...it will improve your feng shui significantly!

Make Fashion Decisions That Bring Good Luck!

There is no better time than NOW to give your closet a good cleaning...get rid of your out of date clothing and give away things you have not worn for some time or no longer fit you.

In fact...it's a great time to rethink your style as a whole and begin to use your feng shui knowledge to make fashion decisions that will bring you good luck!
Wear colours that support your self element

Now the first thing you must know is your personal element - your self-element according to your birth date and what supports it, in order to make the correct fashion decisions. This is because your supporting element will strengthen your self-element and thus magnify your personality. You can also use any of the five elements to combine with your dominant element to generate attainment luck in all your aspirations.

The next thing you must determine is which of the five elements supports your personal or self-element and for this information we turn to the five element theory that explains the relationships between the five basic elements of earthly chi. These five elements are WATER, WOOD, FIRE, EARTH and METAL and the chart below shows the productive, destructive and exhaustive cycles.

Determine the element that supports (produces) your own self-element...not elements that destroy or exhaust it, then refer to the table below for the colours and prints that are good for you. If for example your self- element is wood, then we know that water produces wood so blues and blacks are good colours for you. So we are looking for the supportive elements that strengthen your self-element.

Note: My more advanced students who are studying Paht Chee with me understand that determining the element needed does require further fine-tuning.

The table below highlights popular aspects of each element and their corresponding colours, prints and textures. So while it's best to choose colours that are "supportive" of your personal element, it doesn't mean you cannot wear other colours as well. Certainly no one has a wardrobe consisting of solely of green for example if you want to have the support of the wood element. Yes, it's best to choose colours that do not exhaust your self-element...but once in a while you can make an exception.

Element Colours Prints Texture & Fabric Characteristics
Metal Whites, Golds, Silvers Dots / Oval Elongated, Luxurious, Metallic, Lame, Thai Silk Elegant, Sophisticated, Almost Regal, Polished
Water Blues, Blacks Abstract / Wavy Fluid lines, Sheer, Chiffon, Fine Knit, Velvet, Rayon, Jersey Creative, Intuitive, Intelligent, Spiritual, Sensual
Earth Beige, Dark Browns, Yellow Check / Plaid / Square / Boxed Coarse, Natural Weaves Reliable, responsible, Traditional
Fire Reds, Orange, Fuschia, Pinks, Purple Painted / Zig-zag / Animal Clingy, Shiny, Fur, Satin, Silk, Leather Daring, Powerful, Attention Seeking, Public Persona
Wood Light Brown, Greens Floral / Stripe / Rectange Crisp, Ribbed, Cotton, Spandex, Corduroy, Denim Sporty, Marketing, Outgoing, Energetic

For example, you may want an added "zing" for a public presentation but red exhausts you. You can still wear red for that particular occasion but you should avoid wearing red all the time. And here's another idea...you can wear red silk, where the flowing material of the silk represents water and helps to balance the fire of the red colour.

The great thing about feng shui in fashion is that it is really versatile and easy to apply. You can wear an item of clothing or an accessory in the representative colour, shape or material of the element you wish to energize. Or you can use the prints and motifs to depict the elements of your choice. Once you grasp the theory of the five-elements and know what element strengthens your self-element then have some fun, experiment and find the combination that brings you the best luck.

Special Tip: If you have my Feng Shui Diary for 2012, write down your colour choice for that particular day and at the end of the day make a notation of what your luck was like during that day. Soon you will see a pattern emerge and you'll know exactly what colours and combinations bring you the most luck.

Have fun and make feng shui fashion decisions that enhance your self element...and your luck!
