I've been rockhounding for over 60 years and it's time to disperse my collection. I started as a child, my dad gave me some galena he'd mined as a teenager, a quartz cluster and a trilobite fossil. I started a rockhound club in Canada when I moved to a specimen-rich area in Central BC. When I made plans to move to the United States, a lot of my rocks came with me. Even today, attending rock, gem and mineral shows ranks very high on my favorite things to do. Many pieces will be left to our daughter however she can't possibly take it all. I have hundreds of mineral samples from modest quartz and agates to highly desirable pieces that I've collected along the way through acquisition at auctions, garage sales, self-collecting and more. I am still out there, swinging a rock pick and a metal detector but seldom bring anything new home. They're just so much fun to find but leaving pieces for others to find, and maybe be inspired to become rockhounds too is even more fun.

Sparkling, druzy, botryoidal Chrysocolla

Collector grade from Arizona. Fabulous druzy Chrysocolla botryoidal form, amazing color. Great size, a solid 16 ounces (1 lb) and and about the size of a tennis ball. Pretty malachite peeks put from the edges along with red glow-y calcite on the back.

Old stock Little Green Monster Mine, Utah Variscite.

Green Variscite, greasy Yellow Crandallite, and Wardite; a half-nodule from the Little Green Monster mine in Clay Canyon, Utah. Beautiful natural rind, the green variscite goes all the way through to the back. It displays classic coloration. The face has been polished. From a defunct collection that I purchased at the close of a rock shop in 1999.

Over 1,100 carats apple green Australian Gumdrop Chrysoprase. Pure, sweet and all natural. Old, old stock. Middle photos are with a little mineral oil; last photos are outdoors. Fantastic specimen really hard to find anything like this nowadays.
