Downtown Alley Paving Project Begins Today

Work is moving forward on an important infrastructure improvement in Downtown Casper. The City’s Downtown Alley Paving Project will address drainage and improve the alleyway between East 1st and East 2nd Streets, from South Center Street to South Durbin Street.

The project will begin with the section between South Center and South Wolcott Streets. Once demolition is complete, crews will move to the second phase, extending from South Wolcott to South Durbin Street.

While the work is underway, the alley and adjacent sidewalks will be closed during construction activities, and traffic control measures will be in place. Residents, businesses, and visitors can also expect regular dump truck traffic in and out of the work zone.

We appreciate the patience of our downtown businesses, property owners, residents, and visitors as these necessary improvements move forward.

Investing in the infrastructure that supports our historic downtown is an important part of caring for the place we share and preparing it for the future.

Please use caution near the construction area and follow all posted traffic control signs and detours.

Stay tuned for more updates!

A safer, stronger Downtown Casper takes a village 💛

& we’re grateful to the Casper Police Department for continuing to show up for our downtown community.

As part of CPD’s Area 3 Safety Improvement Project, officers have increased their presence downtown with directed patrols during peak hours, focused enforcement and continued engagement with downtown businesses and residents.

This past quarter also brought the activation of the Problem Oriented Response Team (PORT), a dedicated team focused on identifying and addressing recurring concerns within our community.

So far, that work has included:

5 documented patrols
82 community contacts
4 arrests
More than 20 hours of focused patrol time

Patrol efforts have focused on the Beech and Wolcott areas, Gaslight Social area, NIC and Natrona County Library, downtown parking structures and walking paths.

The goal is twofold: provide an immediate, visible presence downtown while creating sustained follow-up for ongoing concerns.

To the officers spending time on our streets, connecting with our businesses and keeping an eye on the places we all use and enjoy; sincerely thank you.

Downtown Casper 🤝🏼 the C.H. Bixby Hotel

More than a decade ago, a vision was cast for the future of Downtown Casper through a strategic plan.

A stronger retail core. Better wayfinding. A public plaza. More reasons to gather, stay, shop, eat, invest.

& a hotel at the heart of it.

Last week, another piece of that vision moved forward.

The Casper DDA is proud to support the downtown hotel project approved by Casper City Council and the continued private investment it represents for our district.

Because a hotel downtown doesn’t stand alone.

It means more visitors within walking distance of our shops, restaurants, breweries, coffee shops, and entertainment venues. More opportunities to bring meetings, events, and tourism dollars into the heart of our city. And more economic activity supporting the property owners, businesses, employees, and people who continue to invest in this place.

We’ve watched pieces of that original vision become reality over the years; from David Street Station and wayfinding to new housing, businesses, and gathering spaces. And we’re excited to see the momentum continue.

Located at Midwest Avenue and Ash Street, the new 118-room boutique hotel (a part of Hilton’s Tapestry Collection) will feature a full-service restaurant and bar, rooftop lounge, coffee shop, and even a walk-up burger window designed to serve pedestrians and downtown visitors.

Construction is scheduled to begin this fall, with the hotel expected to open its doors to the public in 2028!

We can’t wait to watch this piece of Downtown Casper’s future take shape.

This is where tradition meets tomorrow

Did anyone else look around 5150’ Festival David Street Station this weekend & just feel overwhelming proud of this community? 🥹

If we would have known 9 years ago that these were the sounds of summer in Downtown Casper nearly a decade after the Eclipse Festival; we would have fell to our knees.

The vibrancy, the love for this place, its palpable.

All thanks to you and the people who continue to invest in this district every single day.

So thank you. Thank you for making Downtown Casper alive!

Honored to sponsor 5150’ Festival this weekend and looking forward to more events that raise the frequency and bring us together!
