Q: How many totes do I need for my move?

Every move is a little different, but Homebound Totes makes it easy to choose a package that fits your space!

🏠 20 Totes
Great for smaller moves, apartments, or tackling part of your home.

🏡 40 Totes
A good fit for many medium-sized moves when you need a little more packing room.

🏠 60 Totes
Our largest package for bigger moves, whole-home packing, or when you simply have a LOT of stuff. (No judgment here! 😉)

🎓 Only need a few?
Our 10-Tote option is great for dorms, efficiency apartments and smaller projects.

Today’s tip: PACK BY ROOM!

It can be tempting to fill that last little bit of space in a tote with whatever is nearby—but future you may regret it. 😅

Whenever possible, keep items from the same room together in each tote.

🏠 Kitchen with kitchen
🛏️ Bedroom with bedroom
🛁 Bathroom with bathroom
🧸 Kids’ rooms with kids’ rooms

Then label each tote clearly so you know exactly where it belongs when you get to your new home.

✨ BONUS TIP: Have your movers—or your family helpers—put each tote directly into the room listed on the label. Instead of ending up with one giant pile of totes to sort through, you can start unpacking room by room.

A little organization while you pack can save a LOT of frustration when you unpack. ❤️

As you work through each room, sort things into 4 categories:

❤️ KEEP — You use it, love it or need it.
💰 SELL — Worth enough to spend the time selling.
🤝 DONATE — Still useful, just not useful to you.
🗑️ TOSS — Broken, expired, worn out or no longer usable.

Here’s the trick: make the decision BEFORE you pack it.

If you haven't used something in years and you're already thinking, “I'll figure out what to do with it after we move…” — that's probably your answer. 😆

Less to pack = less to move = less to unpack.

Remember when getting ready to move meant driving all over town hunting for FREE boxes? 😂

The grocery store.
The liquor store.

We know it’s tempting to squeeze in just one more thing… and then one more… and maybe one more. 😂

But when packing your moving totes, make sure the lid can close completely and securely.

Why?

Then save your everyday essentials for last.
