Hi! I’m Melissa. I was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska and I am a third generation Alaskan. Growing up in Alaska provided me with countless opportunities to experience nature’s beauty from an early age. I believe it is what inspired my imagination to bloom and allowed my love and appreciation for art and the outdoors to develop early on in life.
I currently split my time between Utah and Alaska. I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to find inspiration from adventures in the mountains and desert. While many of my designs are inspired by nature, many are also inspired by the every day. I try to make pieces that are relatable, humorous, and/or meaningful.
Arctic Poppy Designs was created in memory of my grandpa, who always encouraged my art. When I was young, we used to pick poppies together and make arrangements for my grandma, a memory I hold very close to my heart. If it wasn’t for the constant encouragement from my friends and family, I wouldn’t be the artist I am today.
