Here’s a truly RARE beauty!...
This is an early second year production Smith & Wesson “Regulation Police” in .38 S&W.
Serial number: 60xx, circa April, 1918.
The “RP” is Smith’s first .38 caliber revolver EVER having a swing-out cylinder.
Built on the I-Frame, predecessor to the slightly larger J-Frame, this model would appear comparable in size and dimensions to a K-Frame Smith & Wesson.
However, holding it in the hand shows how diminutive this 102 year old jewel actually is!
