Hi everybody, here is something unique that I made a while back and is for your "1:1 model" actual car :). It’s a self contained Bluetooth receiver, amp, and speaker all in one, inside the chassis of a vintage Sears Simpson cassette deck.
It was common for 50s/60s cars to not have a radio and therefore no speakers, and you could still do a radio delete on 991 generation 911’s way into at least 2019. I originally came up with the idea when I had a ‘57 MGA- I wanted something that I could use and easily remove, but when installed looked period correct, or within the realm of reason (1957 vehicle with a 1969/70 tape deck, etc) and not a fish out of water digital display.
The guts of it are a a bluetooth digital receiver and amplifier board, specs saying 50W x2 which is probably generous. Input voltage requirements are 12-24V DC. The demo video is using 12V. The speaker is a 3” full range driver, 25W max. During the demo video I barely get the volume past halfway- it was too loud in the office.
I put the biggest possible speaker that I could into the enclosed space. A 2” speaker has 3.14 square inches of area, while the 3” used in this device has an area of 7.07 square inches- more than double. More area, better ability to move air and make sound 😊.
I’ve also included a ‘hard’ on off switch that completely stops any possibility of parasitic battery drain with this device. On the left is a green LED that lights up when power is present, powers off when it isn’t. The volume control on the left controls the volume to the single speaker.
Being a single speaker, it is a mono speaker, combining the right and left channels into one speaker. It sounds good to me, better than having two 1.5” speakers in the enclosure. (I tested to see- installing dual 1.5” speakers was another option I had when first laying this out).
Connecting to it to your phone is easy- power it up, hear the chime, look in your phone for Bluetooth devices, and choose PAIR with BT-WUZHI. On android you’ll get a pop up asking if you really want a Bluetooth pairing with the BT-WUZHI- click pair, and then you’re ready to play any music from your phone. Subsequent uses generally don’t require a re-pairing unless it’s been a long time since you’ve used it. I’ve got pictures of the pairing process.
Right now the device is 1 of 1, but if there was demand I’d be interested in building similar ones to your spec. Or I might just sell this one and be done with it 😊, and shuffle the design somewhere to the back of my brain.
