NewBohemia Dostrict has a big week ahead. On 06.10, GUNSHINE brings Florida swamp rock to Ideal Theater with Iowa City’s own SaintSix opening. On 06.12, birthday season hits Fine Wine style and Fiddler on the Roof opens its run at CSPS Hall. Then on 06.13, Adult Prom 2026 takes over two venues for the night you wish you’d had the first time around. No curfew this time.

This week in New Bohemia is a full one. Kick off First Thursday on 06.04 by exploring the Cherry Building — open studios, local artists, and all the creativity the neighborhood has to offer — then swing by Ideal Theater for their Open House while you’re at it. Cap the week on 06.05 when the Summer Breeze Series kicks off with soul sounds from Rahlan Kay, food trucks, and long-pour cocktails. Summer in New Bohemia is officially here.

Your NewBohemia weekend is looking good. On 05.28, catch a curated Stand Up Comedy Night at Ideal Theater — a room that actually listens, doors at 6:30, show at 7. Then on 05.29, Davina and the Vagabonds take the stage at CSPS Hall — soul-soaked, high-energy, and absolutely not to be missed. Two nights, one neighborhood. Come out.

On May 15th, Bashiri Asad takes The Olympic Theater and turns it into something you won’t forget. Selections from The Way We Are — his latest with Indianapolis collective Be On It — fill the room with smooth R&B, live instrumentation, and lyrics that hit like a conversation you needed to have. Love, loss, growth, those quiet thoughts you carry around but never say out loud… it’s all in there.
