As the summer temps increase, so does the growth of pond vegetation—some of it unwanted. Keep things in check with or PondFit® and MuckEater® products. PondFit is easy to use, very effective, and made from natural beneficial bacteria. See: https://bjpond.com/shop/pondfit-beneficial-pond-bacteria/ for more information.

Have you ever had undesirable fish in your pond? Every pond has them to a greater or lesser degree.

Not every fish belongs in every pond. Certain species can overpopulate, compete for food, muddy the water, and make it difficult for your fishery to reach its full potential.

During our electrofishing visit, we collect data—desirable species versus non-desirable species, predator fish versus prey. Our follow up report lays out a plan for you to improve your pond's overall balance and productivity.

Have you ever had your pond electrofished?

The results are often SHOCKING!

Electrofishing is the core of our pond auditing process, and offers the most effective sampling method to find out what's in your pond. This allows us to build future stocking plans, suggested harvest rates, and any other management actions that may be needed. Not to mention, it's a blast for people of all ages!

Warm weather means hungry fish ☀️🐟

These bluegill may think they’ve got these big pellets to themselves… until the hybrid striped bass show up and clear the table in a hurry!

As water temperatures rise, fish metabolisms speed up, meaning they need more calories to stay healthy and growing. A quality feeding program during the warm season can help maximize growth, condition, and overall pond performance.

Fathead minnows are a great supplement for many new pond stockings, giving young predator fish an easy food source while populations establish and balance out. As a pond matures with proper predator/prey ratios between species like largemouth bass and bluegill, those smaller bluegill take over the role of primary forage.

Pairing a fathead minnow stocking with a supplemental feed program can push growth rates rapidly. This allows for ample forage for all species and sizes, ensuring quick and effective maturation of fish, and making sure no part of your pond’s food web is pressured too heavily.

These are just some of the many ways we tailor our stocking plans to YOUR pond's needs! If you’re in need of a corrective stocking, a new stocking, or just wondering which direction to go, contact the Bjornsen Pond Management professionals.
