Music has always been in Centerville's DNA.

Hometown of Sarah Ophelia Colley Cannon, better known to the world as Minnie Pearl, one of the most beloved entertainers in American history.

Home of the Grinder's Switch Hour, a weekly live radio broadcast from Downtown Centerville every Saturday for decades.

The Centerville Community Orchestra is a community of over 50 musicians of all age groups and all skill levels.

Not to mention the talent of our local musicians and bands who play across the county and beyond. There are too many to list!

On June 21st, we're adding another note to that long musical tradition when Centerville joins the worldwide Make Music Day celebration. Come be part of it!

🎵 So… what exactly IS Make Music Day?

Great question! Make Music Day is a worldwide celebration that happens every year on June 21st, the summer solstice. In thousands of cities across the globe, music spills out into streets, storefronts, parks, and porches. No tickets. No big stage required. Just music, community, and good vibes.

And this year, Centerville is joining in. Here's how YOU can be part of it:

🏠 Got a space? Storefronts, front porches, and event venues. If you've got a spot where someone could set up and play, we'd love to put it on the map. Sign up to host a performance space!

🎸 Got a song in you? You don't have to be a professional; you just have to love to perform and want to share your talent with us. Sign up to play at a hosted venue, or find your own favorite corner of downtown and make some music! Be sure to sign up as a performer and let us know where you'll be!

👂 Just want to listen? Follow us on Facebook for scheduled performances, then come downtown and show some love to our local artists.

Observed each year on June 14, Flag Day honors the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the official flag of the United States. On this day in 1777, the Continental Congress approved the design of our national flag, creating a symbol that has represented our country for generations.

Flag Day became a nationally recognized observance after President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation in 1916, and Congress later made the date official in 1949.

The American flag is more than decoration; it is part of the story of our courthouse, our public square, our community gatherings, and the generations who have called this place home.
