Interesting items of the week:
Vintage carnival chalkware was popular as midway and fair prizes from the 1910s to the 1960s; these nostalgic figurines were molded from gypsum or plaster of Paris. Animal figures—particularly dogs and cats—remain some of the most common and desirable designs sought after by collectors today. Pop characters (Betty Boop) and personalities, victorian ladies and gents, kewpie dolls, etc., often appeared as figurines, bookends, banks and wall hangings.
Up for grabs right now are a Collie dog ashtray and a standing horse figurine; however, we will be adding others in the weeks to come.
Please note: Due to the inherent fragility of chalkware, minor paint flaking and small chips are completely standard for items of this era and generally do not detract from their collectible value.
