Again this year, Mr. Charles and his garden helpers prepared the soil and lovingly planted and cared for The Exchange Garden. And out of that garden, we have given away 1,920 tomatoes to our community this summer!!!

Not only have our Exchange customers enjoyed tomatoes for free, but we have also shared them with families participating in the Pickens County school summer food distribution. And on Wednesday, Mr. Charles takes fresh tomatoes to the Young at Heart Meals on Wheels Center in Central.

Mr Charles will tell you he prays over the tomatoes, and it’s God who makes them grow!

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

This poem echoes what we strive to do each day: follow Jesus’ example and welcome and love everyone who walks through our doors!!

This weekend, we remember, are grateful for, and celebrate the freedoms we have in this country! We hold tight the promise of freedom that so many still yearn for. We find hope knowing complete freedom is found in the kingdom of God. At The Exchange, we are so grateful for all that unites us as a community!!!
