Come meet Stephanie Larkin! This is Tilikum Books first local author book signing and I am thrilled! Stephanie's books often lean towards helping others in one way or another and "250 Years 250 Questions and Answers: A Civics Primer" is no different.
So many things about this book hit a home run for me. Prior to owning Tilikum Books, my background was in communications and data analysis, so its approach - presenting nonpartisan information backed by research and data, with the sole purpose of providing a foundation for others' research - is priceless.
It has been a very long time since I took a civics class. This book provides a refresher on the basics of how our government is supposed to function, its specific roles and what each job entails, and, more specifically, data on the current state of the United States, such as census information.
So often, we see an issue and assume that correlation is actually causation. However, we also frequently learn in hindsight. When we start chipping away at the drywall and soft brick, we may discover that the plumbing was at the root of the issue - it was never the roof leaking from above.
Stephanie Larkin's book has inspired me to want to do more. It is simple: You cannot fix what you do not know is broken. But once you have a blueprint, you can rebuild, starting with the foundation.
