🍁 Antique Highlight: The Courtship of Miles Standish & Mayflower History 🍂

Check out this beautiful 10-inch pink transferware plate made in Staffordshire, England by Rowland & Marsellus Co. (c. 1893–1920)!
The central scene depicts Mayflower passenger-colonists John Alden and Priscilla Mullins walking through a snowy wood. Their romance became famous through Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s 1858 poem The Courtship of Miles Standish, which gave us the iconic line: "Why don't you speak for yourself, John?"
With its intricate floral and fruit rim and deep mulberry-pink color, this piece makes a stunning display for Mayflower descendants, history buffs, or vintage Thanksgiving decor.
