✨ We’ve Been Busy! ✨

First, we owe everyone an apology for being a little quiet lately! We’ve been working hard behind the scenes adding some incredible new specimens, displays, and treasures to the Shop and getting everything ready for opening. Between unpacking boxes, cleaning cases, and bringing in amazing new finds, social media has taken a back seat for a bit!

🐴 Congratulations to Heather Burton! 🐴

Heather is the winner of our $20 Store Credit and the beautiful horse wallpaper! We can’t wait to see what it looks like once it’s installed, and we hope you’ll share photos with us when it’s finished!

💎 Now for a little fun…

Take a look at this display case and tell us:

We have so many exciting things coming soon, and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on. Thank you for your patience and for supporting our little shop. ❤️

Check out this sneak peek 👀🎨

We’ve got something really special coming together right now—a custom mural being painted by the incredibly talented Michelle Deyapp, and it’s already looking amazing.

Can you guess what the mural is of? 🤔

(Hint: think a little old-school… ⛏️)

🤍 Welcome to Verla’s Border Rock Shop & Western Wear 🤍

We’re so excited to share that we’ll be opening June 2026 in downtown Chama, New Mexico!

Verla’s Border Rock Shop & Western Wear was originally founded in 1969 in Lordsburg, New Mexico by our grandparents, Harold and Verla Jorgenson. Harold, a miner who worked throughout Mexico, and Verla shared a deep love for rocks, minerals, and the beauty of the Southwest.

In 1975, they expanded the shop to include western wear—creating a place that reflected both their lifestyle and their passion for the land. After Harold passed in 1998, Verla continued the business on her own, finally retiring in 2025 at the incredible age of 93.

Today, we are honored to carry their legacy forward. Verla, now living in San Tan Valley, Arizona, has even made trips to Chama to help us continue what she and Harold started.

This shop is more than a business to us—it’s family. Our goal is to share the beauty of rocks and minerals, celebrate western heritage, and create a place where memories are made for generations to come.

✨ Follow along for updates as we get ready to open our doors in June 2026!
