A customer wanted to fit a couple of pre-war MOP buttons to his Kroll 5th-string tuners, so I put the mill to work. One button needed a custom shim made from a pre-war tin can that once held Velvet pipe and cigarette to***co!

The second MOP button was badly wallowed out, requiring two shims from the same vintage tin. A pre-war Catalin button was also wallowed out and needed just one shim.

Sometimes the smallest details—and the strangest pieces of history—make the repair work especially fun.
