"My dad is probably the main reason I became interested in RC, which ultimately led to my career with Horizon.

My favorite RC memory of my dad is when he volunteered to marshal a 20-minute race I was competing in. It was very entertaining watching him pay extra attention whenever my car went by his marshal station, whether I was on the edge or just floating through the bumps. Whether it was being supportive, offering to lend me an Allen wrench, or simply chatting while I worked on the tires of my buggy, I'll always appreciate everything he's done to help me get where I am today.
Looking back, the first tires I got for my RC monster truck in high school were Pro-Line Racing Big Joes, a tire from the very brand I now design for. As for the tires, I think he chose them specifically because he shares the name 'Joe' with them."

Some hobbies come and go. Others get shared for generations.

"When I was a kid, my dad wanted to find a hobby we could enjoy together. His first attempt was borrowing an off-road go-kart from a friend. I immediately put it to work by tearing up most of the grass in our backyard. Mom quickly shut that idea down.

Not long after, my dad found a friend who let us try his RC buggy. Before the car even hit the ground, I was hooked. I had to have one. What started as a simple introduction quickly snowballed into a full-blown obsession with RC.

For years, we raced at tracks all around our local area. Somewhere along the way, I told my dad that I wanted to tell people about RC and someday work for a magazine. A few years later, I landed my first job at HobbyTown. Not long after that, the editors of one of the biggest RC magazines in the industry asked me to write articles for them.

I jumped at the opportunity, and those articles eventually led to a full-time career as a magazine editor. Today, I work as an RC media specialist, operating the RC Driver brand through YouTube, a website, and multiple social media channels that reach enthusiasts around the world.

What amazes me most is that I still love this hobby as much as I did on day one. These days, I get to share that passion with my own kids, spending time together whenever they get the itch to run an RC.

For me, RC has always been more than a hobby. It's a community. It's purpose. It's passion. It's friendship, creativity, and lifelong memories. And after all these years, I still have the same dream I had as a kid—to tell as many people as possible about the incredible world of RC." - Greg Vogel
