It’s the MWB Book of the Week and this week’s pick comes from Jacob and is In Stormy Weather by Chelsea Curto!

“This was my first read by Chelsea Curto and omg where has she been all my life??? Quincy and Sebastian might be one of my favorite couples of all time! The rivals to lovers’ aspect in this was done perfectly and oh my god THE YEARNING?? Sebastian and that slutty chain, I’m dead. This was the first book in a while where when I wasn’t reading all I thought about was the next time I can pick it back up. If I could put a song to this book I would put
“Thunderstruck” by AC/DC. You may think this is just a basic song choice but there’s a certain scene where it makes perfect sense ;D From my understanding this is a standalone but God I hope not I need more of these characters.”

“It seems unbelievable that an entire year has passed since I opened the doors of Miss Willa’s Bookshop and made a dream of owning a bookstore become a reality.

Miss Willa’s marks our first year with not just celebration but also expansion and we cannot wait for you all to find your next favorite romance book in our Queen’s Garden section of the bookstore, coming this September for our inaugural Willa Ever After festival.

None of this would have been possible without the incredible people who believed in this dream alongside me. Staff Picks: Book of the Week

We’re starting a new series where each week a staff member picks their book of the week and gives a little review/recommendation!

This week is Caroline’s pick, Dearly Departed by Chip Pons!

“This book absolutely captured my heart. I am a fan of any retelling, and this one felt so fresh!
Hades...I mean Hayden is in “retirement” from being a god and instead runs a funeral home.
He is grumpy and standoff-ish. His exact opposite, Levi, runs the local flower shop.
After an encounter following Levi’s adjustment of a flower order, these two end up in the most perfect enemies to lovers situation. This story was peak grumpy/ sunshine, balancing themes of love, loss, and grief with IMMACULATE spice. Let me tell you, Hayden has shadows and knows how to use them. This book is perfect for people who love snark, spice, and a whole lot of heart.”

We are so excited to be celebrating Miss Willa’s Bookshop’s first anniversary! Join us in store on July 26th from 11-8 for the celebration. We will have mystery scratch off discounts all day, JLA will be signing in store*, and POP POP SODA SHOP will be selling dirty sodas. We are excited to celebrate our first incredible year with you. Can’t wait to see you there!

*JLA may be taking breaks throughout the day, so please plan accordingly.
