Charleston is beautiful this time of year… but let’s be honest—it is HOT. 🥵☀️

For those of us who live here year-round, this heat can be exhausting. If you’re visiting, especially with little ones, your family may not be used to our combination of heat and humidity.

If you can, plan your walks and sightseeing for the morning or later in the afternoon. The middle of the day can be overwhelming, especially for young children.

And if your little one starts to melt down, take a moment before assuming they’re just being difficult. If the adults are feeling drained, sticky, and uncomfortable, imagine how it feels for a child who doesn’t always have the words to say, “I’m too hot.”

A little shade, some water, a cool place to rest, or even taking a break can make all the difference.

Let’s all give each other a little extra grace during these Charleston summer days. Stay hydrated, look out for one another, and make memories safely. ❤️

It’s been a difficult and emotional week here at the Charleston City Market.

We unexpectedly lost a friend and fellow vendor—someone who was part of our market family. I needed to take a small step back to grieve, reflect, and spend time with those I love.

Coming back today and seeing my very first ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ review reminded me why I pour my heart into what I do.

Reading that Restored by the bee Tallow & Magnesium Balm has made such a difference for someone is incredibly humbling. Every product I create is made with the hope that it will bring comfort, and hearing stories like this means more than I can put into words.

Some market days are busy. Some are slow.

Some days the sun is relentless. Some days the rain keeps people away. Some mornings are cool, and others feel like you’re melting before the day even begins.

Every morning, we still load the truck, set up the booth, and open with a smile.

Choosing to be a small business owner isn’t always the easy path. There are long hours, unpredictable days, and plenty of moments that test your determination. But every conversation, every returning customer, and every person who chooses to support handmade makes it worth it.

The Charleston City Market isn’t for the weak. It takes grit, consistency, and a whole lot of heart.

And tomorrow… we’ll show up and do it all again.

One thing most people don’t see behind a candle business… 🌿🕯️

Charleston’s heat and humidity keep me on my toes. Natural candles made with beeswax, coconut wax, and pure essential oils don’t always stay picture-perfect. They can “sweat” a little in the humidity, dust covers get worn from customers smelling their favorite scents, and the rims need a good cleaning every so often.

So every now and then, I spend part of my market day replacing dust covers, cleaning each cup, and making sure every candle looks as beautiful as it smells.

It’s not the glamorous side of running a handmade business, but it’s one of the many little details that matter to me. When you pick up a Magnolia and the Bee candle, I want it to look just as thoughtfully cared for as it was when I poured it.
