Babs here to debunk one of our favorite “rules of fashion” — no white after Labor Day. 🤍

But where did the rule actually come from?

Once upon a time, white was the uniform of summer leisure. Women packed their whites for summer homes and seaside escapes, then traded them for darker, heavier city clothes when they returned after Labor Day.

Somehow, a seasonal dressing habit became a fashion “rule.”
