And just like thatโฆ ๐
My time at Powerhouse 2.0 Next Generation has come to an end.
Working here was truly a life-changing experience for me. It gave me stable employment, yes, but it gave me so much more than a paycheck. It gave me the opportunity to be OUTSIDE in my community, meeting people where they are, educating, testing, connecting folks to care, and providing resources like PrEP, Doxy-PEP, condoms, sexual health education, and other prevention services.
Unfortunately, due to federal budget cuts under the Trump administration, along with other unfortunate circumstances within our healthcare system, I no longer have a position, and the prevention clinic will be closing.
And Iโm not gonna lieโฆ Iโm sad. Iโm frustrated. Iโm disappointed. Especially because I KNOW firsthand how much our communities need these services.
But some things are simply out of my control.
What I can control is what I do next. ๐๐ฟ
I trust that God has something else for me, and I truly hope my next chapter allows me to continue doing this work. HIV/STI prevention and community outreach have become a real passion of mine. Whether itโs Charlotte, across America, or somewhere around the world, I want to continue educating, advocating, breaking stigma, and helping people protect themselves and their communities.
Iโm grateful for every person I met, every person we tested, every outreach we pulled up to, every partnership we created, every conversation, every laugh, and every life we touched. ๐
Powerhouse 2.0 Next Generation changed my life, and Iโll forever be grateful for this chapter.
The clinic may be closing, but the work definitely ainโt over.
