Happy Friday! 👋 Today we’re shining a spotlight on Richmond-based artist Meg Thaler, whose work we’re thrilled to represent here at the gallery.

Holding an MFA from Pratt Institute and a background in art education, Meg creates abstract paintings, mixed-media works, and ceramic sculpture. Her process centers on breaking down familiar shapes and compositions, encouraging viewers to experience the world from a fresh perspective.

Featured in this post are Meg’s mixed-media triptych titled 𝘙𝘰𝘢𝘥 𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘱 and a selection of her ceramic works currently available at CHG.

✨ If you’re on Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall this weekend, stop by and say hello!

Happy Friday! 👋
We’re kicking off a new weekly series highlighting some of the talented local artists and makers we’re lucky to represent here at Consignment House Gallery.

Dirty Leg Craftsman (Iaian Thompson) is the woodworking business of U.S. Army veteran Iaian Thompson, one of the newest makers represented at our gallery.

In addition to creating handcrafted furniture and turned vessels, Iaian teaches fellow veterans traditional hand-tool woodworking, helping them find community and a therapeutic outlet through craftsmanship.

We’re proud to share his work and story.

✨Out and about this weekend? Stop in on the Downtown Mall and discover what’s new in the gallery!

Asian rosewood secretary desk featuring intricate mother-of-pearl inlay, hand-carved shell-form recessed drawer pulls, and a removable organizer on the inside.

Likely dating to the mid-20th century (c. 1950s–1970s), this piece was made before international trade restrictions significantly limited the availability of many traditional rosewood species, making vintage examples increasingly sought after today.
