The 50th celebrations are almost here! 🎉✨ Join us at 8:30pm tomorrow, July 3rd, at the Ting Pavilion to join the lantern parade led by the Elby Brass Band. Bring your own or grab a FREE LANTERN, made by CHS art students, at the Parade. We’ll walk the Mall and end with the ECHOES light projection show at the CODE building.

Join us for a spectacular, one-night-only light show projection that transforms history into public art. ECHOES, by local artist zilog80, is an ethereal, whimsical journey through the Mall’s past and present. The mobile museum is coming back to downtown Charlottesville next week! A hands-on, interactive, and immersive “museum on wheels,” the VA250 Mobile Museum Experience titled “Out of Many, One” brings to life key stories of Virginia’s rich history, highlighting every region of the state.

The mobile museum will be open to the public July 3rd from 1:00 - 8:00 pm and July 4th from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm on 2nd St (in front of Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society which will be open for extended hours on the 3rd!). There is no fee to access the VA250 Mobile Museum Experience!

The 50th anniversary celebration for the Downtown Mall is just under two weeks away! Join us on July 3rd for a day filled with live music, celebration, community, and fun. 🎶🎉

Make sure not to miss the community lantern parade at 8:30 PM! Bring your own lantern (some will also be available!) and stroll down the Mall with your friends and family. The evening will culminate with the animated artwork, ECHOES, projected onto the CODE building.

In the background, construction is underway to convert Leggett’s department store to a Regal Theater which would remain on the site until 2015 when Violet Crown Cinema opened.
