JEFFREY BENNETT, distinguished author and Pittsylvania native son, will be at Shadetree Rare Books (26 South Main Street, Chatham) on August 8th from 11am to noon, to sign his latest book: "The Black Belt of Virginia: Untold Stories of African American History." (Copies available for $18.) Many of the stories are about his enslaved family at Berry Hill Plantation--and how their descendants have found their way into the American Dream.
