Time Flies when you're having fun!
Here's a long worthy read!
Today marks 7 years since my Grand Opening!! 7 YEARS!!
We have had some amazing memories within those 7 years, some goals met that a great feeling of accomplishment as well as reaping the reward of the hard work that was put in! We've also seen some very challenging and testing moments along with some less than ideal situations. I've always said you cant have success without those hard and challenging times, that is when you learn, whether it's a new way to approach, a resetting of a stagnant inventory, a demographic, whatever it may be learn and adapt! Stay optimistic and show up with a positive mindset and never give up as long as the dream is alive!
I have met so many amazing individuals throughout the last 7 years many that started out as customers and have become friends, many opportunities have opened due to relationships that have been built throughout those years!
When I first took a leap of faith into this endeavor I was the Sales Manager and Back up Finance Manager for a dealership, long story short after about 6 successful years of being in that position I was let go the day before my Grand Opening. I say that not to down the dealership for letting me go, but because today it is part of my story and how it played a part in allowing me to celebrate year number 7 today!
I was comfortable at that job, til this day I love the car business! I had been in and out of it since 2004 and I held a position that I took pride in and I was in a place where when this opportunity for the store came about I felt comfortable to take it on and not be in a situation where I was solely dependant on the store to pay my bills, and keep a roof over mine and Elys head. Then came the unexpected the day before my Grand Opening I was let go from my main source of income. I had no idea what was gonna happen now! But if you know me, you know, but who I am does not accept defeat, I may look like I've taken a beating but ima stand right back up and continue on! So I did, not knowing how I was going to make my business succeed without a steady income coming in but i was going to figure it out! Then a few months later the country started to shut down due to covid and I thought to myself, welp this is it i don't sell anything that is a necessity and the only thing ppl are buying are necessities what will I do now!?
So I brainstormed and prayed, started thinking outside of the box and promoting more on social media and different platforms of social media where I was reaching not only folks from across the country but internationally as well and that helped me get through the trying times during covid.
You heard me say earlier where I stated that I was comfortable at the job I was at and how being in that position allowed me to take on this endeavor. I believe that God made me get uncomfortable in that situation so that I would put in the work necessary to make it to celebrate year number one, then two, then three, then four, then have a Five Year Anniversary Celebration, then on to six and then today SEVEN YEARS!!
So with everything I said above, I want to give all the thanks to God for allowing me the opportunity to be a business owner, for blessing me with the talent to operate, blessing me with all of the customers throughout the last 7 years and for blessing me with anyone and everyone who has supported me in so many ways without you im just a building with a bunch of merchandise! I always take 1 day at a time, 1 month at a time and 1 year at a time, but I cannot wait until we can celebrate year number 10!!
