Highly uncommon 1973 pair of “S” table lamps designed by Mark Stehrenberger for Modeline of California. As a world-renowned automotive illustrator, Stehrenberger’s ability to peer into the future made him the perfect match for a brief lighting design career for Modeline’s “California Contemporary” line in the early 1970s.
There is so much that makes this pair unique. First, their size.
While most table lamps from this era towered well past 39”, this 22” pair is perfect for nightstands or smaller end tables/buffets. The creative cord placement allows for them to be situated to create a mirror image, perfect for those like myself obsessed with symmetry. Only time can tell whether one’s futuristic visions are indeed futuristic. The fact that these are every bit as stylish in 2026 as they were in 1973 definitively answers that question. 22” tall, 14” wide. Message for price, shipping quote, and to purchase.
