No drinking problem here! Try one of these bottle stoppers or bottle openers to make life easier. The stoppers have flexible "rings" to fit most bottle necks, and are perfect for that bottle of wine that doesn't get finished off. For me, I use an opener even on "twist off" bottle caps to save my hands. These make great gifts as well.

It's always so difficult to say goodbye to a beloved pet, even when you know it's the right thing to do. I make pet urns, customized with your pet's image and other information. This urn has a lower compartment for the ashes, and the upper compartment to hold special items like collars, name tags, etc. Instead of a laser engraved image, Catherine Smith Marra can paint your pet's portrait at additional cost. Also, check out all of my other items (bowls, pens, clocks, boxes, games, etc) on my website.

I'm still making these dog figures, with laser engraving if desired. I have multiple breeds available, and can add your breed if I don't already have it in my collection. Also, check out all of my other items (bowls, pens, clocks, boxes, games, etc) on my website.

A customer is buying a large walnut bowl, and wants a set of large walnut salad servers to go with the bowl. This is my first foray into making spoons and forks, so it has been an interesting challenge. There are ways to make smaller spoons on the lathe, but this spoon was too large so I had to hand carve the bowl portion. The handles on both were turned on the lathe. Both fork and spoon are being finished with Howard's Butcher Block oil. Several more coats of oil and they will be ready to ship along with the bowl. (I won't be adding salad servers to the inventory as they are far too time intensive and costly to make.)

I love making unusual pieces! This octagonal bowl is made from a large "water oak" tree limb that was cut off of a tree in my front yard. It measures about 11.5" across and is 3" tall, and has some bark edges on two sides. After thorough sanding, it was finished with "shine juice" (which is a mixture of linseed oil, shellac, and denatured alcohol), and then several more coats of shellac. I love the soft luster that the durable shellac finish gives to wood. Some people may be familiar with the "French polish" finish on furniture, which also uses shellac. Check out this bowl in the "New Items" tab on my website, or use this link to go directly to this bowl.
