ANTIQUE HIGH-BACK WAINSCOT ARMCHAIR

Description
A handsome and substantial oak high-back armchair crafted in the Georgian era but in the traditional Jacobean style. The chair features:
• A tall back panel with deeply carved floral motifs including tulip and daisy forms, framed by scrolling vinework.
• A scrolled crest rail in the 17th-century tradition.
• Solid curved arms and boldly bobbin-turned legs joined by stretchers.
• Pegged mortise-and-tenon joinery, consistent with 18th-century provincial craftsmanship.
• Rich, dark patina developed over centuries of use, with surface wear, minor scratches, and expected age-related marks.
This piece reflects the enduring popularity of Jacobean design well into the Georgian period, particularly in provincial workshops where traditional forms continued to be produced.
