If you find yourself without power today because of a shut-off by the Chelan PUD, know that downtown Chelan will still be up and running, and there are plenty of cool and comfortable shops and restaurants to spend some time until your power’s back on.

In regards to the nearby Little Giant Fire, since we know how quickly worry can spread: the City of Chelan is not in any immediate danger. The fire is burning in a remote area near Lake Wenatchee, about 22 miles northwest of Leavenworth.

We want to express our sincere gratitude to the firefighters battling that fire and other fires around the state.

One thing worth keeping in mind—air quality can shift hour to hour depending on the wind and weather, so it’s always a good idea to check current conditions before you head out. There are many more reliable AQI readings than what you might see on your phone app. Check out AirNow which compiles multiple readings for a good look at air quality.
