Looking back at Katrina and Jon’s beautiful wedding in June at the The Groton Inn in Groton, MA. The couple had so many thoughtful, personal details at every step, and they were a joy to work with. So happy for them and I wish them many years of adventures and love!

The Groton Inn has so many perfect backdrops, and their staff is top-notch. Photographer Riany of RH Creative captured so many special moments and details. It’s been a rough summer in my neck of the woods (eastern MA). We’re still in a severe drought, and watering in my town is limited to hand-watering only. Needless to say, the cutting garden suffered!

But the dahlias are starting to bloom, so I’ve got that going for me! Which is niiice!

What a gorgeous day and joyful wedding for Katrina and Jon! Here are some behind-the-scenes looks at the wedding setup earlier in June. The Groton Inn has so many beautiful spaces, inside and outside, and a top-notch event staff. And a breathtaking backdrop!

I loved the couple’s palette of blues, purples, lavender and ivory, and we were blessed to score lilacs, baptisia and lupines (a nod to the Texas bluebonnet, the state flower of Jon’s home state).

Here’s a peak at sourcing some lavender and blue beauties for a wedding last weekend. Lilacs were gone in early June in my neck of the woods (eastern MA), but not so on Monhegan Island, Maine in Maine, and we happened to do a short trip there!

I asked two homeowners on the island if I could forage some lilac stems, which they graciously allowed. I toted the lilacs home in a fabulous Kozio Taschelino bag, purchased at the Black Duck on Monhegan. It was all coming together!

Also shown are responsibly foraged baptisia and some beaded Iris I grew this season, the rhizomes came from Schreiner's Gardens. I am now officially in love with bearded irises (especially the blue ones, yowza)! At Semper VirensFlowers, we take our seasonal flowers seriously!

I’m going to miss my Spring beauties so bad! We had a long, cool spring this year, and enjoyed them longer than usual. Nothing compares to their delicacy, beauty of form and fragrance.

Spring is most definitely here, yay!! We’re taking crocuses, hellebores, bears (!!), skunk cabbage, ordering plants from , more crocuses.
